Gratitude Journal Check-In

We are half way through February people! I say every year that March just sounds better.  The winter can really put people in a funk, and I start to see the energy in my students draining as the winter months drag on.  Thankfully, the days are already noticeably longer, and the sun has started peaking up on my drive in to work.

Speaking of the sun raising earlier, that was one of my entries in my gratitude journal this month.  Each night I prop my pillows up and write an entry of something for which I am grateful.  I have done this every night; however, the more tired I am the shorter the entry.  I didn’t make a length requirement, so there’s nothing wrong with this, but I can’t help but wonder if writing earlier in the day would provide more meaningful ideas.  At the end of the night I usually start drifting asleep on the couch before Tim has to convince me to make the long trek up the stairs. At that point, I just want to close my eyes so I hurry through my entry.  For the second half of the month, as long as I remember, I will write my entry earlier in the day.  Whether I write in the morning or at night, I’m proud of myself for sticking with it.  It’s a nice reminder that each day has something special to be grateful for.
