Happy May! I love this month. Seeing the flowers start to bloom is such a sign of hope as the Chicago cold days finally start to leave. As I wrote in my last blog post, my April goal of meditating didn’t happen. While it’s an excuse, there was just too many things going on and I didn’t make it a priority. I hope to add it onto my summer goals, so for now, my meditation goal is going to be on pause.
But just like every first of the month, it’s time to move on to the next goal. For the month of May, my goal is to compliment someone different each day. Not just any compliment either, I’m thinking something a bit more meaningful than simply saying, ‘I like your shirt.’
I’ve always said one of my favorite parts about teaching is being able to make a student smile. I like to be goofy in the classroom, and you never know what may be going on in a student’s home life. Therefore, if I can be a positive and consistent person they see every day, I’m doing my job right. Since making my students smile brings me joy, I thought about how else I can make people smile, and who doesn’t love getting a compliment? Just a small way I could brighten someone’s day.

May is a feel-good month, so adding compliments can only amplify that. This is going to be a good month. Feel free to join me in this goal!
